The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention designates National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW) as an annual observance designed to highlight the importance of protecting infants from vaccine-preventable diseases.

This year's NIIW will be held April 25-May 2, 2009 and hundreds of communities across the country will host activities, in conjunction with the Pan American Health Organization's Vaccination Week in the Americas.

NIIW also focuses attention on immunization program achievements and accomplishments of various successful collaborations.
